More than just a holiday camp

More than just a holiday camp

Without invading his privacy too much I can say only that The Boy has not been having the easiest time of late and his confidence has taken a beating as a result. As a parent this has to be one of the saddest things to see happening to your child and The Man and I have been working our socks off to support and encourage our little boy.

Currently I’m 100% a stay at home parent. The Man has been working away during the week so I’ve been around to take up the slack and paying for a holiday course wasn’t really something I was considering until we were offered a day on The House of Fun half-term course in return for a couple of mentions on social media. I had a look into the course and saw that unlike many of the other courses I had seen advertised this one offered cookery and art alongside the endless sports options.

Review of Emily Brown and the Thing at The Cornerstone Arts Centre

Review of Emily Brown and the Thing at The Cornerstone Arts Centre

Normally writing a review is a careful balancing process weighing up good against bad and trying to give a balanced view, but this isn’t the case with The Cornerstone Arts Centre’s Emily Brown and the Thing. I could even, if I were feeling very lazy, sum it up into one brief, yet to the point, sentence: go and see this play.

We’re spoilt, in Oxfordshire, with great arts centres and small theatres showing some really great quality productions, especially around Christmas time.  Didcot is within easy striking distance of where we live which is why we’re so lucky that they feature productions as excellent as this.  Based on the book of the same name by Cressida Cowell, of ‘How to train your dragon’ fame, Emily Brown and the Thing is a charming, light hearted piece of theatre from Tall Stories that appeals to the very young right through to adults. We were nervous at taking the one year old Girl along to live theatre, but she sat, entranced, for the entirety, even joining in with some of the interactive parts and swaying along to the music.

Today’s post comes to you in the form of a riddle I just came up. It’s a tricky one now, so don’t spoil it for others by giving away the answer, but here’s a little clue – think what you would do in this situation…

And don’t forget to share once you’ve figured it out!

Habit forming 4 – the good, the bad and the really really irritating

Habit forming 4 – the good, the bad and the really really irritating

Do you have a habit you’d love to break? Perhaps your other half does something that drives you up the wall?  Lately I’ve been reading a book about the habits of successful people and it got me to thinking about my own habits – good and bad – and wondering about other people’s. I’m a nosy cow and love to find out a bit about folk that not everybody knows so I thought I’d ask around some of my blogging community and find out what they consider to be their habits, for better or worse and see if we have anything in common.

Wednesday weigh-in, my weight loss journey, week 3/26

I had maybe three hours’ sleep last night. This has been the norm rather than the exception over the last week. Fuck the diet. Fuck the weigh ins. Sugar is the only reason I make it through each day.
Fuck it all.
