Well I don’t know if you noticed but I’ve developed a new look round here lately. I’m pretty proud of it all – goodness knows it’s been a long time coming. There may be a few more tweaks to make, but they’ll be mostly cosmetic now and www.liveoxfordshire.com will be my home for the forseeable future. So welcome, take a look around and allow me to tell you about my plans for the next year.
Firstly there’ll still be some of the same stuff that’s appealed to so many readers over the last 8 months: funny skits on childrens’ culture, reflections on parenting and family life, top 5 & top 10 lists and the odd guest post from experts who know more than I do and have offered to share their knowledge with us. I also suspect you’ll be seeing more photos of my gorgeous Girl and Boy as I try and make a bit more of an effort to do reviews of places and events in Oxfordshire and various family-based products like childrens’ clothing, gadgets and toys.
I am also determined to tell you all a bit more about this lovely county that I live in and have named my blog for. From co-operative efforts with other bloggers to guided walks, reviews (as mentioned above), days out and interviews with residents about the town or area they live Live Oxfordshire is going to do much more of exactly that and really focus on life here in the centre of the Home Counties.
Finally I have plans for a series of in-depth interviews with Oxfordshire parents about their lives, but as that’s still very much a work in progress – and reliant on other people as well as myself – I’ll keep the rest of the details under wraps for now.
This isn’t a terribly exciting blog post I know, but I needed to mark the beginning of this new era in some small way. Thank you for following me over from WordPress, I hope you like the new design and enjoy the new content.
Hello! Would you do a post on hiring an independent midwife or your experiences I wonder? I am contemplating for my first born.
I’d be very happy to write about it- I admit it was in my plans already. If there is anything in particular you’d like to hear about do let me know so I can include that x
Ooh thank you! I forgot to check back for replies hence the delay. I suppose one of my worries is if anything should go wrong and transfer is needed, are you still allowed the midwife by your side etc. This is of course one of the main reasons I’d fork out money for one – I love this feeling of continuity of care I feel there’s sadly nowadays no guarantee for on the NHS, beloved as it is to me nonetheless. But that’s all I can think about really -otherwise just really appreciate people sharing their experiences for me to read up on (or should that read nose up on?!)
