Do you have a habit you’d love to break? Perhaps your other half does something that drives you up the wall? Lately I’ve been reading a book about the habits of successful people and it got me to thinking about my own habits – good and bad – and wondering about other people’s. I’m a nosy cow and love to find out a bit about folk that not everybody knows so I thought I’d ask around some of my blogging community and find out what they consider to be their habits, for better or worse and see if we have anything in common.
This week Jo from Conflab Corner has kindly agreed to share the ins and outs of her habits. If you missed my post then don’t forget to check it out here. Do then look out on my blog every Monday to see what everybody else has to say!
What are your good habits?
I really struggled to think of any good habits I have! I get the kids
to school every day – does that count? I almost always eat a healthy breakfast
and I’m more regular about taking my medication now. It helps that the kids have
to have their tablets – it reminds me to take mine. I’ve also finally got
regular facial moisturising into a habit. Only took 36 years!
What habits are you trying to cultivate/would you like to cultivate?
There are lots of habits that I’d like to cultivate. I’m trying to
work on blogging daily or at least every other day. I’m writing stuff in a
notebook as it occurs to me, hoping to find inspiration. I’ve just set up a
workspace at home so I’ve got somewhere to write. I’d also like to walk more. I
average about 3,000 steps a day which isn’t a lot, but I’ve had various health
issues which have held me back. I’d like to increase my steps to
What are your bad habits?
I have so many bad habits!! I’m pretty sure I have undiagnosed ADHD
so I just don’t see things. I’d be a nightmare to live with – I feel sorry for
my kids! I do things like leave drawers open and clothes on the floor. I’ll walk
over a piece of rubbish on the floor dozens of times because it just never
occurs to me to pick it up. I also did a survey recently and discovered that
most of my bad snacking habits are in the evening – during the day I can eat
healthily and don’t snack too much, but in the evening I just
Which bad habit would you most like to break?
The bad habit I would most like to break would be the snacking. If I
could beat the snacking and increase my steps I might actually lose
Have you succeeded in breaking any habits?
I can’t really think of any habits I’ve succeeded in breaking, except
that I used to eat sweets out of habit. Then I realised I didn’t actually like
them that much so got out of the habit of just munching away on them. That’s not
to say I don’t still pick at sweets sometimes but I rarely buy them. They send
the kids loopy anyway so we don’t really have them in the
Which habits of your partner and/or children drive you up the wall
I’m a single mum so I don’t have a partner to drive me up the wall,
but the kids are developing their own irritating habits, especially as the older
two have autism and ADHD. My son ALWAYS leaves doors open. It is so infuriating!
I’m not sure why I get so mad at him when it’s along the same lines as my own
bad habits, except that it lets out all the heat and I get really cold. He also
chews on things, especially wooden things. I actually had to stop while writing
this and deal with a splinter in his mouth from where he’s been chewing his
bedframe! My eldest daughter specialises in driving me up the wall so it’s hard
to pick out a habit. She likes to climb on things. Wardrobes, roofs, window
ledges. That can be pretty hair raising at times. My youngest daughter likes to
whine. Which drives me to wine!
